Bone Grafting

Oral and maxillofacial surgeons receive extensive and specialized training to obtain and place bone grafts in areas where little or no bone exists. Sites that lack the necessary bone for dental implants can be improved with the use of bone grafts. Bone grafts may also be utilized to reconstruct areas in the jaws which have bone lost as a result of trauma, tumor surgery or congenital defects. Bone loss can be common for people who have lost teeth or had gum disease.

Bone grafting surgeries are performed as an outpatient surgery under IV sedation.
