Ask Dr. Naples What Is All On 4

The All-on-4® treatment concept provides patients who are edentulous (lacking teeth) or soon-to-be edentulous, with a fixed full-arch dental bridge anchored onto four implants. This best-in-class treatment concept is minimally invasive, safe, and highly effective. To a patient missing some or all of their teeth, however, it is so much more.

All-on-4 is most often described by our patients as “life changing” because with this groundbreaking approach, the patient receives a new smile on the day of surgery. With All-on-4, you can chew, laugh, and smile again almost immediately.

Tooth loss is actually quite common in adults. In fact, there are millions of Americans missing all of their upper or lower teeth. Rather than having a single implant on each tooth, All-on-4 uses just four strategically placed implants per arch, to anchor the jaw – and the patient receives a set of lifelike prosthetic teeth on the day of surgery. They are more comfortable than dentures, and can have an amazing impact on patients’ happiness, self-esteem, and overall oral health.

Many people come to us with unpleasant dental conditions – whether it’s missing and/or infected teeth, or uncomfortable dentures. We love helping people, and seeing the positive change in our patients’ attitudes, confidence, and abilities is one of the best parts of our job!

DENTAL IMPLANT BASICS

Dental implants are titanium posts which are placed in the jawbone to act as a replacement root structure for missing teeth. Your bone will bond with the implant, creating a strong foundation for an implant crown (a replacement tooth).

Implant-supported teeth look and function just like real teeth, and are maintained with the same oral hygiene practices, such as brushing and flossing.

All-on-4 allows for a full arch restoration in much less time than with regular implants, as well as a more comfortable set of temporary dentures (minus that uncomfortable artificial palate) that the patient can wear during the healing and fitting process. We then work together with the patient to find the correct tooth color and perfect shape, for maximum comfort and function.

There are many benefits to All-on-4 Dental Implants:

  • Eliminates the discomfort and maintenance of dentures
  • Preserves jawbone structure and prevents further bone deterioration
  • Allows for normal jaw function, sooner
  • Promotes overall health while facilitating a well-balanced diet

A COLLABORATIVE DENTAL TEAM for best results

The best dental implant results come from a coordinated dental team effort between a skilled oral and maxillofacial surgeon and a restorative dentist. An oral and maxillofacial surgeon is the combination of general dentist and medical doctor. An oral surgeon will have received an additional 4 – 6 years of surgical training, including extensive dental implant placement experience, after completing the Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree.

A restorative dentist who has completed their Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree will be familiar with dental implant restorations. A skilled restorative dentist will be a conscientious devotee to the field of dentistry by seeking out continuing education, which supports and furthers their knowledge received in dental school.

As an oral surgeon, Dr. Naples will collaborate with your restorative dentist to coordinate individualized treatment for you during every step of the implant process. Your restorative dentist will also help you maintain your tooth replacement through maintenance and post care appointments

Giving patients back their quality of life since 2000, Dr. Naples has placed more than 5,000 implants at Naples Oral + Facial Surgery. Don’t have a restorative dentist? Please come see us and we would be happy to connect you with a skilled restorative dentist near you.
